FC Barcelona Femení secured a record-extending seventh consecutive Primera División Femenina title on Wednesday with a commanding 4–1 victory over city rivals RCD Espanyol Femení in the Catalan derby.

Teenage Norwegian forward Martine Fenger scored twice, while Caroline Graham Hansen and Carla Julia also found the net as Barcelona sealed the title with four matches to spare.

The triumph marks Barcelona’s 11th league crown overall and caps another dominant campaign in which they have won 25 of their 26 league matches. Their only setback came in a defeat to Real Sociedad Femenino in November.

Real Madrid Femenino remain second on the table, trailing by 16 points despite having a game in hand.

Barcelona are now chasing a historic treble. They will face FC Bayern Munich Frauen in the semi-finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League and are also through to the Copa de la Reina final, where they will meet Atlético Madrid Femenino on May 16.
