Agency report
Protesters have taken to the streets of the Federal Capital Territory to voice their frustration over worsening economic hardship and insecurity across the country.
Earlier in the day, security agencies had stationed heavily armed personnel at key points throughout the city, including areas identified as potential protest zones.
The security presence was especially visible around major junctions and the National Assembly complex, where authorities anticipated gatherings.
Despite the heightened security, the protest began in the Apo area of Abuja, coinciding with Nigeria’s Democracy Day.
Demonstrators were seen chanting solidarity songs and holding placards as they marched to express their discontent.
