THREE WOMEN ALLEGE BRUTAL ASSAULT AT PORT HARCOURT NIGHTCLUB, POLICE LAUNCH INVESTIGATION
By Aishat Momoh. O.
Three young women have accused a man of violently assaulting them during a night out at the Black Box nightclub in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, leaving one with a bloodied head, another with a broken tooth, and the third allegedly stripped and thrown down a staircase.
The disturbing incident, which reportedly occurred during a birthday celebration, has triggered outrage online following viral videos shared by the victims detailing the attack.
In one video, a visibly injured woman recounted how the man confronted their group, accusing them of recording him without consent. “Now the only thing we did wrong is to go out as girls,” she said, her scalp visibly wounded, allegedly from a bottle smashed on her head.
Another victim said they had paid to reserve a table but were harassed and forcefully displaced by the man and his entourage. “He said if they born me well, I should sit in the seat I paid for,” she narrated. “He and his friends started breaking bottles. My friend’s head was broken, another lost a tooth, and I was stripped and pushed down the stairs.”
The third woman, seen missing a front tooth in the video, called on human rights organizations to intervene, lamenting the growing insecurity for women in public spaces. “They need to get those men,” she said. “Young girls these days can’t even go out and just be secured.”
The women also claimed the assailant is a known regular at the club with a history of similar violent behavior.
Reacting to the incident, a man identifying himself as the founder of Black Box, with the TikTok username @datfairboy1, condemned the violence in a personal video statement. He described the assault as “pathetic” and affirmed that he had visited the victims in the hospital and filed a formal complaint with authorities.
“No human being has the right to inflict physical wounds on another, especially when there was no threat,” he said.
The Rivers State Police Command confirmed that the nightclub’s manager and the alleged suspect have been invited for questioning. In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the command urged the victims to come forward and provide formal statements to aid the investigation.
As of press time, the alleged assailant has not publicly responded to the allegations.
