TWO DEAD, 10 INJURED IN JIGAWA AUTO CRASH AS FRSC RECOVERS N2.1 MILLION FROM SCENE

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed the deaths of two persons and injuries to 10 others following a fatal auto crash that occurred on Thursday morning along the Ringim-Kano Road in Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
According to FRSC Sector Commander Umar Mas’ud, who addressed journalists on Friday in Dutse, the crash happened around 10:40 a.m. and involved two Volkswagen cars. The cause was attributed to overspeeding and wrongful overtaking.
Mas’ud stated that 13 individuals, all from Bareda village in Ikara Local Government Area of Kaduna State, were involved in the incident.
In a commendable act of integrity, the FRSC also recovered N2.1 million in cash belonging to one of the deceased victims and a surviving passenger. The money was returned to the victims’ relatives in the presence of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the area, ASP Abdullahi Ibrahim.
“It is my pleasure to inform the general public that our personnel were involved in a rescue operation in the Ringim area on Thursday, and during the exercise, the sum of ₦2,166,700 was recovered,” Mas’ud said.

He praised the unit command in the area for their transparency and diligence in handling the incident and returning the recovered funds.
The Sector Commander reiterated the FRSC’s commitment to integrity, public service, and transparency, while urging motorists to avoid dangerous driving practices such as excessive speed and reckless overtaking.
Mas’ud concluded by warning drivers to observe traffic rules and drive responsibly to prevent avoidable tragedies on Nigerian roads.
