APC SWEEPS IKORODU LG, IGBOGBO/BAIYEKU LCDA IN LAGOS LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in the Lagos State local government elections in Ikorodu Local Government Area and Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

The results were officially declared at about 12:35 a.m. on Sunday by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) returning officers.

In Ikorodu LG, Adedayo Ladega of the APC was declared winner by the returning officer, Alhaji Aregbesola Yekinni, having polled a total of 38,946 votes. He defeated Saidat Odofin of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 2,592 votes, and Abdulazeez Awesu of the Labour Party, who secured 2,753 votes. The Allied Peoples Movement candidate recorded 68 votes.

Similarly, in Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Hammed Aroyewun of the APC clinched victory with 15,015 votes, according to returning officer Arimoro Oluwakanyinsola. His closest challenger, Liadi Olawale of the PDP, trailed with just 341 votes.

Reacting to the outcome, outgoing Ikorodu LG Chairman, Mr. Wasiu Adesina, described the results as an emphatic win for the APC and a clear indication of the people’s trust in the party. He expressed gratitude to the electorate for their massive support and reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to grassroots development.

The results further solidify the APC’s stronghold in Lagos State as the ruling party continues to dominate local politics.
