BREAKING: D’TIGRESS DEFEATS MALI TO WIN AFROBASKET WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP

Nigeria’s Women National Basketball team, D’Tigress have won the 2025 FIBA AfroBasket Women Championship by defeating their Malian counterparts by 78-64 baskets.

In the keenly contested encounter, played in Abidjan, the capital of Cote d’Ivoire, scores were 41-41 at the end of the second quarter.

The Nigerian ladies established their control of the game in the third quarter by ending the quarter at 61-56.

By the 4th quarter, the Nigerians took the game away from the Malians and the game ended 78-64 baskets.

With this feat, the D’Tigress have won the FIBA AfroBasket Women Championship for the fifth time in a row, first by any African nation.
Also, the team has now gone ten years without suffering a defeat from an African team.
The team had earlier secure a place in the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup qualifying tournaments, scheduled for March 2026.
