The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspected car thieves and recovered three stolen vehicles in separate operations across the state.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, noting that the feat followed coordinated, intelligence-led operations aimed at tackling motor vehicle theft.

On August 18, 2025, a female resident of Badawa Quarters reported that her Hyundai Elantra (2011 model, ash colour) was stolen outside North Field Montessori Academy, Nasarawa GRA, Kano. Following investigations, police traced and recovered the vehicle in Zaria, Kaduna State, on August 23.

In another case, a resident of Sabon Gari Quarters, identified as Moses, reported the theft of his Pontiac Vibe (2006 model, ash colour, registration number ABJ 739 JK) on August 5. The vehicle was later recovered in Adamawa State through credible intelligence.

Similarly, police intercepted a sky blue Toyota Sienna (registration number GAK 556) stolen from Bauchi State after receiving information from a good Samaritan. Operatives attached to the Wudil Division arrested two suspects — 35-year-old Yunusa Muhammad (alias Yellow) and 23-year-old Abdulwahab Bala, both from Bauchi State — in connection with the theft.

Kiyawa confirmed that the suspects will be charged to court after investigations, while the recovered vehicles will be returned to their rightful owners.

The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, commended the operatives for their professionalism and urged residents to continue supporting security efforts by promptly reporting suspicious activities.
