Spanish La Liga side, Sevilla, have confirmed the departure of Nigerian forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, after both parties agreed to a mutual termination of his contract.
The club, in a statement on Monday, announced: “An agreement has been reached with Kelechi Iheanacho to rescind his contract. Best of luck for the future, Senior Man.”
Iheanacho, 28, joined Sevilla during the summer transfer window following his free transfer from Leicester City, where he spent seven years and scored over 61 goals in all competitions.
Despite arriving with vast Premier League and international experience, the Super Eagles striker struggled to secure a regular place in Sevilla’s squad, making only a handful of appearances and scoring three goals before his exit.
The Nigerian international, nicknamed “Senior Man,” has earned 58 caps for the Super Eagles and featured in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Iheanacho first gained prominence at Manchester City, where he graduated from the club’s academy and was part of Nigeria’s 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup-winning squad. He made his senior debut for City in 2015 before completing a move to Leicester City in 2017, where he went on to win the FA Cup in 2021.
The forward is now a free agent and will be seeking the next chapter of his career.
