ABUJA — The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has apprehended a 45-year-old individual, recognized as Mr. David Tersoo, for purportedly assaulting his spouse and offspring in an incident of domestic violence.

The event, which transpired on September 9, 2025, was validated by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh.

As per Adeh’s statement, the Command received an urgent communication indicating that three children, including an eight-year-old girl, her three-year-old sister, and a nine-month-old infant, along with their mother, had been expelled from their residence by the accused around midnight.

In a prompt response, the Commissioner of Police for the FCT dispatched personnel from the Mpape Division and the Gender Unit, who collaborated with the Ministry of Women Affairs to rescue the affected individuals.

One of the children was discovered with visible contusions, while the mother and her offspring were placed under protective custody.

The suspect reportedly barricaded himself within the abode behind a fortified door while armed. Following prolonged efforts, police personnel successfully apprehended him without any injuries.

During a subsequent search, a pump-action firearm, a white powder, and several other suspected illegal substances were seized. The suspect has since been subjected to drug testing as part of the ongoing investigation.

Commending the Ministry of Women Affairs and observant neighbors whose intervention helped avert a potential tragedy, the Commissioner of Police urged victims of domestic violence to come forward. He also reiterated the Command’s dedication to safeguarding residents and ensuring justice.

Investigations are in progress, and police officials have assured that additional updates will be provided in due time.
