Manchester City have dismissed a bar worker who was spotted serving fans while wearing a Manchester United shirt during Sunday’s heated derby at the Etihad Stadium.
The incident came to light after a frustrated City supporter raised the alarm on X (formerly Twitter), posting a photo of the staff member serving drinks in Block 315. The worker was seen in a dark United away shirt from the 2018–19 season, a provocative choice of attire on derby day.
The supporter, tagging the club, described the sight as “an absolute joke,” sparking outrage among home fans. City officials quickly confirmed that the individual had been relieved of their duties.
The episode provided an unusual subplot to a difficult day for United, who slumped to a 3-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium with goals from Phil Foden and Erling Haaland.
Following the match, City manager Ruben Amorim reiterated his commitment to his philosophy, insisting that his 3-4-3 system was non-negotiable and that only the club could decide to part ways with him if they wanted a different approach.
