A former Governor of Oyo State, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has been officially anointed as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The coronation took place at the Ose Meji Temple located in the Ibadan South-East Local Government Area of the state.

Ladoja, who previously received the traditional Akoko leaf at the Labosinde Compound, Oja’ba, Ibadan, is anticipated to be formally bestowed with the staff and symbol of office by Governor Seyi Makinde at the historic Mapo Hall.

The press reports that Governor Makinde abbreviated his annual leave on Thursday to personally witness Oba Ladoja’s coronation.

It should be noted that Ladoja assumed the title of Olubadan-designate following the demise of the 43rd Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who departed this life on Monday, July 7, 2025.
