Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has reassured Nigerians that his squad will be dedicated and determined in Tuesday’s pivotal World Cup qualifier against the Cheetahs of Benin Republic.

Chelle provided this assurance during a pre-match press briefing at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Monday.

Currently, Nigeria occupies the third position in Group C with 14 points, trailing Benin Republic, which has 17 points, and South Africa with 15 points.

Despite travel difficulties that postponed the team’s arrival in Uyo, Chelle noted that the players were in excellent spirits and prepared for triumph.

“We must secure a victory in this match tomorrow. I have to concentrate fully on tomorrow’s contest; we need to win, and nothing less,” he stated.

“Our objective is to qualify for the World Cup. I am extremely pleased and quite enthusiastic. At times, we may feel a bit anxious,” Chelle mentioned.

Team captain, William Troost-Ekong, remarked that the players were inspired to achieve a convincing victory and establish their legacy.

However, he acknowledged that the outcome of tomorrow’s match may not be entirely within their control.

“There are players here eager to make their mark, and others who wish to have their names remembered in history.

“They are completely prepared and will aim to win.

“However, tomorrow’s outcome may not rest entirely in our hands, but we will strive to give our best and secure the match,” Ekong noted.

Meanwhile, Benin Republic’s coach, Gernot Rohr, indicated his confidence that his team would achieve victory and qualify for the World Cup, asserting that his players were in high spirits and well-positioned to succeed.
