TCN TO CARRY OUT 10-DAY MAINTENANCE ON GOMBE TRANSMISSION SUBSTATION, RESIDENTS TO EXPERIENCE POWER SUPPLY DISRUPTIONS

Residents and businesses in Gombe State are set to experience up to ten days of irregular power supply as Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) commences major maintenance work on its 132/33kV transmission substation in the state.
The planned maintenance, which TCN described as a routine preventive exercise, is scheduled to take place from October 14 to 24, 2025, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily. The operation aims to improve power stability and enhance the overall efficiency of the transmission network in the North-East region.
In a statement on Tuesday, TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah explained that the work will involve shutting down specific feeders and replacing critical control and protection panels — a process that may temporarily affect electricity supply in some parts of Gombe State.
“The planned maintenance will enable our engineers to carry out the replacement of protection and control panels on the Shongo 33kV Feeder 8,” Mbah said.
To minimise the impact, the company announced that load from the Shongo 33kV feeder will be transferred to the Darazo 33kV feeder, while that of Mallam Sidi will be moved to the Doma 33kV feeder. TCN also assured that Jos Electricity Distribution Company will continue to receive bulk power throughout the exercise.
Mbah appealed to the public for patience and understanding, noting that the maintenance is crucial to prevent system failures and ensure long-term service reliability.
“Preventive maintenance remains a key part of our operations. We appeal for public understanding and cooperation as we work to improve the quality and stability of electricity supply in Gombe and its environs,” the spokesperson added.
