President Bola Tinubu and Rwandan President Paul Kagame on Sunday held a private lunch meeting in Paris, where they deliberated on global developments and strategies for advancing Africa’s growth amid a complex international environment.

Sharing details of the meeting on X, Tinubu said the discussion centred on Africa’s future in the face of a rapidly changing global landscape.

“This afternoon, I had a private lunch with H. E. President Paul Kagame of Rwanda to discuss the current state of world affairs and advancing Africa in an ever-changing global landscape,” Tinubu wrote.

The President had departed Lagos for Europe on December 28, 2025.

According to a statement from his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu is currently in Europe to continue “his end-of-year break and ahead of his official trip to Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates.”

Onanuga disclosed that “His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, has invited President Tinubu to participate in the 2026 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026) Summit, which will take place in the emirate early in January.”

He noted that the weeklong summit is an annual gathering that brings together leaders from government, business and civil society to shape the next phase of sustainable development.

With the theme “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” ADSW is designed to link ambition with action across innovation, finance and people, while highlighting pathways for global progress.

The Presidency added that President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after the summit.
