The Kaduna State Police Command has successfully repelled an attack by armed bandits in Giwa Local Government Area, killing two suspects and recovering firearms.

The operation followed credible intelligence of an impending raid on Idisu village, Idisu ward of Bayan Kogi.

DSP Mansir Hassan, the command’s spokesman, said the intelligence indicated that the bandits, led by a notorious kingpin identified as Kachalla Sanusi Bajira, were planning to attack the community after residents refused to pay an illegal levy.

He added that, acting on the information, the Commissioner of Police ordered operatives from the anti-kidnapping unit, working alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force, to move swiftly to the area.

On arrival, the operatives encountered the bandits, who had set up an ambush, and immediately engaged them in a gunfight.

The police overpowered the attackers, killing two, while the others fled into the surrounding bushes.

The operation led to the recovery of two firearms and five rounds of live ammunition.

Commissioner of Police Rabiu Muhammad praised the operatives for their bravery and professionalism, assuring residents of the command’s continued commitment to intelligence-led operations against banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes.

He also warned that Kaduna State would not serve as a safe haven for criminals.
