THREE SUSPECTED HUMAN TRAFFICKERS APPREHENDED IN ONDO

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested three suspected human traffickers and fraudsters in Akure, the state capital, and rescued three victims from their custody.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), a 30-year-old Togolese man, John Apiah, allegedly used two women, Blessing Assiah and Laro Larisa, to lure unsuspecting victims with promises of securing international passports and American visas.

The suspects reportedly collected a total of 1.6 million CFA from three victims, who were initially housed in a hotel before being moved to the suspects’ rented apartment in Oda Town, near Akure, where they were kept under suspicious circumstances.

Jimoh stated that, acting on credible intelligence, the police swiftly intervened, rescuing the victims and arresting the suspects.

Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, has warned landlords against permitting their properties to be used for criminal activities, emphasizing that negligence in this regard would attract serious legal consequences.

He assured the public of the Command’s steadfast commitment to tackling human trafficking, cross-border crimes, and all forms of criminal activity.

The CP urged residents of Ondo State to continue providing credible and actionable information on suspicious activities to help the police maintain safety and security across the state.
