The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to former Rivers State Governor and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has appointed a caretaker committee for Plateau State as part of a broader restructuring ahead of the 2027 political cycle.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the faction’s National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, revealed that the 13-member committee, headed by Dr. Gideon Nandem Tyem as Chairman with Goje A. Hirfo as Secretary, has been tasked with managing the party’s affairs in the state.
Mohammed added that the decision was made under constitutional provisions granting the National Caretaker Working Committee (NCWC) authority to oversee state chapters until new executives are elected.

The statement noted that the restructuring is a key part of the party’s rebuilding strategy, tasking the new caretaker committee with overseeing operations and stabilizing internal structures during the transition.
It emphasized that the caretaker arrangement is temporary, set to last only until new state executive committees are constituted.
“The tenure of these committees shall be for 30 days, or until such a time as a new Executive Committee is elected,” the statement read.
Mohammed added that the appointments are effective immediately, with the newly named chairmen and secretaries expected to assume their duties across the affected state chapters as the reorganisation gets underway.
