The Yobe State Police Command has launched a manhunt for an 18-year-old woman, Khadija Jamilu, following allegations that she attacked her husband during a domestic dispute in Potiskum Local Government Area.

According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, February 6, 2026, when Khadija allegedly stabbed her 25-year-old husband in the genital area with a knife.

“On February 6, 2026, at about 0100 hours, the suspect, Khadija Jamilu, an 18-year-old female of Potiskum Local Government Area, allegedly attacked her husband, aged 25 years, using a knife and inflicted a deep cut injury on his genital organ,” the statement partly read.

The victim was initially rushed to the State Specialist Hospital, Potiskum, for urgent medical care before being referred to the Federal Medical Centre in Azare, Bauchi State, where he is currently receiving treatment.

Abdulkarim added, “Efforts are in top gear to arrest the fleeing suspect, while investigation into the case is ongoing.”

The Commissioner of Police in Yobe, CP Emmanuel Ado, condemned the act and urged couples to embrace peaceful conflict resolution. “Marriage should be built on mutual respect, understanding, patience, and tolerance. Marriage must never be an avenue for violence, abuse, or humiliation,” he said.

He advised couples and intending spouses to seek proper counselling before and during marriage, practice anger management, involve trusted mediators when disputes escalate, and avoid resolving conflicts through violence, noting that such actions often have irreversible consequences.

The statement further called on community leaders, families, and relevant stakeholders to educate youths on the principles of healthy relationships, conflict resolution, and marital responsibilities.
