A former Chief of Staff to Governor Seyi Makinde and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Bisi Ilaka, has formally resigned his membership of the party.

In a resignation letter dated Tuesday, February 10, obtained by our correspondent on Thursday in Ibadan, the state capital, Ilaka expressed appreciation to the PDP for the opportunity it gave him to serve at both state and national levels.

Recall that Governor Makinde appointed Ilaka as his first Chief of Staff on May 29, 2019, immediately after his inauguration. He held the position until 2021, when he was replaced by Segun Ogunwuyi in July of that year. Following the 2023 election, Ogunwuyi was reappointed for a second term.

In the letter addressed to “The Chairman, Ward 5, Oyo East LG. Re: Resignation of Party Membership,” Ilaka wrote, “It is with utmost humility that I tender my resignation of membership from the PDP.

“I am eternally grateful for the opportunities afforded to me by the party and the unalloyed support given to me over the years. Till we meet again,” he stated.

It would be recalled that a former Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Agboola Ayoola, popularly known as Alleluyah, also resigned his membership of the party in October 2025.

Ayoola, who hails from Itesiwaju Local Government Area, formally conveyed his resignation in a letter dated Friday, October 10, 2025, bringing his longstanding association with the party to an end.

He previously served as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs under former governors Rashidi Ladoja and the late Adebayo Alao-Akala between 2003 and 2011. He was also the only PDP senator elected in the South-West, serving from 2011 to 2015.
