The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has called on Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr, the Obingwa-West representative in the Abia State House of Assembly, to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Erondu, who was elected on the PDP platform, received the advice during a Saturday visit by Kalu to his office in Umuahia. The Deputy Speaker emphasized that Erondu’s inclusion in APC would be crucial, particularly in efforts to ensure the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

“Remaining in the PDP limits your potential. APC needs leaders like you. This is the right moment to join us—there is life in APC,” Kalu said.

He stressed that delivering Tinubu in the 2027 elections is a mission greater than individual political ambitions and described Erondu as a grassroots politician deeply respected by his constituents. Kalu also highlighted that Abia APC has registered over 160,000 members so far and commended Erondu for his empowerment initiatives that have improved the lives of people in Obingwa West.

Responding, Erondu thanked Kalu for the visit and pledged to reciprocate the gesture of solidarity, including supporting efforts toward Tinubu’s re-election.
