The Lagos State Government has issued Notices of Intention to Seal multiple markets, plazas, and commercial establishments in Ikorodu for failing to comply with environmental regulations, as part of its ongoing statewide enforcement campaign.

The Waste Investigation, Surveillance, and Enforcement (WISE) unit of the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) conducted routine inspections across selected locations in the Ikorodu area.

The affected sites include Ferry Terminal, Ikorodu; No. 6 NBC Road, Ebute, Ikorodu; No. 7 NBC Road, Ebute, Ikorodu; Ominu Ajasa & Royal Family Premises, Ikorodu; Ladega Market, Ikorodu; and Better Life Market, Ikorodu.

According to a statement posted on the official social media channels of the Lagos State Government on Sunday, “All affected plazas, markets, and occupants have been granted 72 hours to comply with the notice. Failure to do so will attract appropriate enforcement actions in line with existing regulations.”

The government emphasized that the enforcement exercise is part of a broader initiative to ensure adherence to environmental laws, curb illegal street trading, and promote proper waste management across Lagos.

“All activities took place within the Ikorodu axis of Lagos State. Keeping Lagos clean is a shared responsibility,” the statement added.

Earlier, the media reported that Ladipo Spare Parts Market along the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Road (Apapa–Oshodi Expressway) was sealed last Sunday for repeated violations of environmental regulations.
