Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian on Saturday apologised to neighbouring countries for attacks carried out during the Islamic Republic’s war with Israel and the United States.

“I apologize… to the neighboring countries that were attacked by Iran,” Pezeshkian said in a speech broadcast on state television.

The apology came after the Iranian leader declared that his country would never surrender to Israel and the United States.

Iran’s enemies “must take their wish for the unconditional surrender of the Iranian people to their graves,” Pezeshkian said in the televised address.

Israel and the United States launched strikes on Iran on February 28, killing the Islamic Republic’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and sparking a wider regional conflict.

Iran has since retaliated with missile and drone strikes targeting Israel and US interests in several countries across the region, particularly in the Gulf.
