At least three security personnel collapsed from exhaustion during the second-term inauguration of Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, held at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka on Tuesday.
The incidents occurred at different points throughout the ceremony and were attributed to prolonged parades under intense sunlight.
The affected operatives included a male police officer, a male officer of the Directorate of State Services (DSS), and a female officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), all reportedly overwhelmed by the scorching heat.

The police officer collapsed first during a parade, followed by the female NSCDC operative, who slumped near the end of the event and was later escorted to an ambulance after initially refusing a stretcher. The DSS officer collapsed in front of the podium during another parade segment.
According to a security source who requested anonymity, the police officer was resuscitated at the parade ground but remained unstable and was transported to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital in Amaku, Awka.
At the time of reporting, updates on the condition of the other operatives were unavailable, as security spokesmen declined to comment.
