IGP VISITS MAIDUGURI BLAST VICTIMS, REVIEWS SECURITY AT ATTACK SITES

Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, on Tuesday visited victims of the recent bomb attacks in Maiduguri, Borno State, and carried out security assessments at key locations affected by the explosions.
The Borno State Police Command confirmed that the blasts, which occurred on Monday evening, claimed 23 lives and left 108 others injured across three locations, including a major market, the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital gate, and the Post Office flyover.
During his visit, Disu stopped at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, where he met with injured victims and their families, offering condolences and assuring them that efforts are underway to track down and dismantle those responsible for the attacks.
He also inspected the Monday Market, one of the targeted sites, conducting an on-the-spot evaluation of security arrangements and engaging with personnel to strengthen operational readiness and coordinated responses.
As part of his engagements, the IGP visited the Borno State Government House and the police command headquarters to enhance collaboration between federal and state security agencies.
He noted that security measures have since been intensified across Maiduguri and surrounding areas, with increased patrols, surveillance, and joint operations aimed at preventing further incidents.
