The Kano State Ministry of Health has announced that the state government has assumed responsibility for the medical care of a woman, Hafsatu Yusuf, who delivered quintuplets at the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital.

The disclosure was made in a statement issued on Wednesday by the ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Nabilusi Na’isa.

According to the statement, Yusuf gave birth to five babies, three boys and two girls who, alongside their mother, are currently receiving specialised medical care at the hospital.

Her husband, Salisu Nufi’u, expressed gratitude to the state government for the timely intervention, noting that the support came at a critical moment for the family.

The government said the move forms part of its broader efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery, particularly in the area of maternal and child health. It reaffirmed its commitment to reducing maternal and infant mortality rates while improving access to quality healthcare services, especially for vulnerable residents.

Quintuplets, five babies born from a single pregnancy, are extremely rare and typically require intensive medical attention due to the high-risk nature of multiple births.
