The Kano State Government has confirmed the rescue of the Administrative Secretary of Kibiya Local Government Area, Hamza Durya, days after he was abducted by suspected kidnappers.

Durya was reportedly taken on Friday night from his residence in Durya village, Kibiya LGA, when about six armed men stormed the area on motorcycles and whisked him away without firing any shots. Eyewitnesses said family members present during the incident were left unharmed, as the attackers targeted only the victim.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, disclosed that operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) carried out a coordinated operation that led to Durya’s rescue and the arrest of two suspects. The suspects were said to have sustained gunshot injuries during the operation.

The government described the development as a testament to the dedication and professionalism of security agencies, noting that it reflects the effectiveness of ongoing efforts to tackle criminal activities across the state.

It also commended Governor Abba Yusuf for providing the necessary support and resources to strengthen security operations.

Reassuring residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property, the government urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities, stressing that public support remains critical to sustaining security across Kano State.
