A founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sule Lamido, has reiterated his loyalty to the party, declaring that he will remain despite its ongoing internal challenges.

Lamido made the remark on Saturday at a PDP stakeholders’ meeting in Dutse, Jigawa State, where party leaders gathered to deliberate on its future amid internal rifts and rising defections.

He took a swipe at high-profile politicians who have left the party to join smaller platforms, stressing that PDP remains his political base.
“PDP is my home. It may be facing challenges, but it is still my home. I won’t leave it for another party,” he said.

KANO GOVERNOR PLEDGES CONTINUED PARTNERSHIP WITH FG FOR DEVELOPMENT

The former governor warned against abandoning the party due to its difficulties, likening such a move to deserting one’s family in hard times.
“Walking away from your home because of challenges is not the solution,” he added.

Lamido also accused some defectors of trying to dominate smaller parties, particularly the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which he said were built by others.
“They left a bigger platform and are now trying to take over smaller ones created by different people,” he noted, cautioning that such actions could weaken political values and party growth.

He maintained that the PDP’s issues should be addressed through internal reforms and shared responsibility rather than defections.

Lamido urged members to remain steadfast and collaborate to rebuild and strengthen the party from within, expressing confidence that unity and commitment would restore its strength ahead of future elections.

He also encouraged party faithful to revalidate their membership online and complete voter registration in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
