GUBER POLL: OLUYEDE URGES EKITI RESIDENTS TO SPEAK OUT, REJECT APC’S POOR GOVERNANCE

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Ekiti State, Wole Oluyede, has warned that staying silent fosters poor leadership and exacerbates the state’s challenges.
Promising a new era of development for Ekiti, Oluyede called on residents to support him and cast their votes decisively in the June 20, 2026, governorship election.
In a strongly worded statement issued on Tuesday in Ado Ekiti through his Special Adviser on Media, Gani Salau, Oluyede emphasized that the growing tide of injustice, corruption, and hardship in the state is not coincidental, but a direct result of public silence and inaction
According to him, when individuals with negative intentions unite, it becomes imperative for well-meaning citizens to also come together or risk being overwhelmed.
He emphasised that passivity is far from neutral, warning that inaction creates fertile ground for injustice, corruption, and societal decay to thrive unchecked. He added that poor leadership often flourishes in environments where citizens fail to challenge it.
Reinforcing his position, Oluyede cited the famous words of Edmund Burke: “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”
He stressed that wrongdoing does not succeed solely because of its strength, but because of the fear, silence, or indifference of the majority.
According to him, even small acts of resistance are more meaningful than apathy, as they prevent injustice from gaining acceptance through silence.
Oluyede further asserted that the decline in Ekiti State since the PDP lost power in 2018 was largely driven by a culture of silence and indifference, which, he said, allowed corruption and poor governance to thrive.
He declared: “I can bring about real change and execute impactful programmes that will eradicate backwardness and poverty, and position Ekiti among economically self-reliant and developed states within my first term.
“I am a careful and strategic manager of both financial and human resources, shaped by my experience as an internationally recognized medical doctor and entrepreneur,” Oluyede stated.
The PDP flagbearer urged the people of Ekiti to take a decisive stand and use their votes to bring about change, comparing the needed determination to that of Spartan warriors fighting to reclaim their future.
He expressed confidence that a new era is achievable if voters reject poor leadership, assuring that the PDP, as a united and strong platform, fully supports his candidacy.
