FRSC CALLS ON MOTORISTS TO DRIVE SLOWLY AND EXERCISE CAUTION DURING RAINY SEASON

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has advised motorists nationwide to slow down and be more cautious as the rainy season begins, warning that wet roads and reduced visibility greatly heighten the risk of accidents.
In a statement released on Monday, the Corps noted that overspeeding on slippery roads remains a major cause of road crashes during this period.
The FRSC urged drivers to observe safe speed limits, maintain adequate distance from other vehicles, and ensure their vehicles are in good condition before setting out on any journey.
The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, explained that rainfall often reduces visibility, fades road markings, and causes waterlogging, all of which can create serious hazards for motorists if not properly managed.
The agency also advised drivers to avoid sudden braking, use their headlights appropriately, and remain fully attentive while driving.
Mohammed reaffirmed the FRSC’s commitment to safer roads, noting that patrol teams have been deployed across the country to ensure compliance and respond quickly to emergencies.
He further urged road users to cooperate with traffic officials and strictly observe safety rules, stressing that caution and patience can help save lives during the rainy season.
