OGUDU ACCIDENT: SEVEN VICTIMS RESCUED
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) responded swiftly to two separate road incidents in Lagos, including a tragic crash at Okokomaiko that claimed the life of a roadside hawker and another accident at Ogudu inward Toll Gate that left seven passengers injured.
The fatal crash at Okokomaiko involved a Lexus Jeep with registration number SMK 674 HY, which struck and killed an adult male hawker. LASTMA officials quickly arrived at the scene, secured the area, and evacuated the victim’s remains from the road. The body was later handed over to officers of the Nigeria Police Force from Ketu Division, who transported it to the Badagry Mortuary for further procedures.
In a separate incident at Ogudu inward Toll Gate, a collision between a Mazda commercial bus (MUS 231 YA) and a Lexus Jeep (FKJ 23 HL) resulted in injuries to seven passengers. LASTMA operatives, alongside officers from the Ogudu Police Division, responded promptly, while officials of the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) evacuated the injured victims to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention.
All vehicles involved in both incidents have been handed over to the police for investigation into their immediate and remote causes.
LASTMA General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, reiterated the agency’s appeal for greater road safety awareness among motorists. He urged drivers to obey traffic rules, observe speed limits, and remain vigilant, especially during nighttime when visibility and alertness are often reduced.
He reaffirmed LASTMA’s commitment to protecting lives and ensuring effective traffic management across Lagos State.
