The Kano State Police Command has arrested six suspects in connection with the attack on the popular mobile phone market at Farm Centre in Kano metropolis.

The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna.

According to the statement, the incident occurred on April 27, 2026, at about 1:20 p.m., following a distress call indicating that suspected ‘Yan Daba’ thugs had mobilised for a clash.

Police patrol teams were immediately deployed to the scene, where officers encountered a violent confrontation between rival groups.

“In the process, an ambulance was vandalised, while attempts were made to attack other locations,” the statement said.

The police said the thugs later turned on security operatives, attacking them with stones and other dangerous weapons, but the officers repelled the assault professionally.

The suspects reportedly fled to the Farm Centre Market, where they attempted to break into shops and loot property before reinforcements arrived to disperse them.

Six suspects were subsequently arrested, while normalcy has been restored to the affected area.

The Commissioner of Police warned that the command would not tolerate any form of thuggery or disturbance of public peace, urging parents and guardians to caution their wards.

He also commended the officers for their swift response, which prevented further escalation and loss of property.

The command added that investigations were ongoing to arrest other fleeing suspects and identify those behind the attack.
