The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has rescued 15 individuals, including foreign nationals, after uncovering a suspected human trafficking network allegedly operating under the disguise of an online marketing company in Nasarawa State.

The operation followed intelligence-led raids carried out in Keffi and Karu Local Government Areas, where officials detected suspicious activities linked to fraudulent online recruitment schemes.

In a statement posted on Wednesday via its X handle, NAPTIP said the rescue operation took place on May 7, 2026, led by its Investigation Department alongside the Intelligence and International Cooperation Unit.

Preliminary findings revealed that 15 victims were discovered at the location, comprising four females and 11 males. Among the males, three were Nigerians while the others were foreign nationals.

Investigators said the suspects allegedly used the fake online marketing business as a cover to recruit and detain unsuspecting victims, with indications of human trafficking, cyber exploitation, and other organised criminal activities.

NAPTIP described the case as a serious security and humanitarian concern, warning that traffickers are increasingly using deceptive employment schemes to lure victims.

The agency confirmed that investigations are ongoing to dismantle the wider network and apprehend additional suspects connected to the syndicate.

It also reaffirmed its commitment to tackling human trafficking and urged the public to report suspicious recruitment activities or unusual movements within their communities to security agencies.
