GOVERNOR UBA SANI APPROVES APPOINTMENT OF NEW EMIR OF KAGARKO
Agency Report

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has approved the appointment of Alhaji Suleiman Sa’ad Abubakar as the new Emir of Kagarko following the death of the former monarch, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar.
The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was confirmed in a statement issued on Monday by the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Alhaji Sadiq Mamman Lagos.
According to the statement, the new emir, who previously held the traditional title of San Turakin Kagarko, emerged after a rigorous selection process conducted by the Kagarko Emirate kingmakers.
“The appointment followed a rigorous selection process by the kingmakers of the Kagarko Emirate Council, during which a pool of contestants was screened before Suleiman Sa’ad Abubakar was eventually selected,” the statement said.
The government noted that the stool became vacant following the death of the late Emir, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, who passed away on January 8, 2026, after six years on the throne.
Governor Sani congratulated the new emir and urged him to promote peace, unity, and harmonious coexistence within the emirate.
“The Governor also charged the new Emir to steadfastly promote peace and harmony within his communities,” the commissioner added.
The statement further disclosed that arrangements for the formal installation and presentation of the staff of office will be announced in due course.
Kagarko Emirate, located in southern Kaduna State, remains one of the key traditional institutions in the state, playing a vital role in grassroots governance, conflict resolution, and cultural preservation.
