FOUR MEN ARRAIGNED IN IKORODU COURT FOR DEFYING COURT ORDER
The police on Tuesday have arraigned four men at an Ikorodu Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for defying a court ruling.
Eric Odok, 28, Okejide Olaniyi, 27, Ibrahim Soile, 28 and Dare Afolabi, 28, are facing two charges of conspiracy and non-compliance with a court ruling.
The police prosecutor, Sgt. Mary Ajiteru, told the court that the accused committed the offence on November 21 at the Ira-Nla neighbourhood of Ajah in Lagos.
She said that the accused had behaved in a manner that could cause a breach of the peace by trespassing on a piece of land belonging to the Otebiya family in Ajah.
Ajiteru said that through their action, the accused had refused to comply with a court ruling, dated October 29, 2018 on charge No. M/359/17 held in Ikorodu.
She added that the offence contravened Section 97 (1)(3) and 168(d) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
In her ruling, Chief Magistrate A.R Onilogbo granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000, with two sureties in like sum.
She ordered that the sureties must, however, show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The chief magistrate later adjourned the case until January 17, 2019 for mention.
