A 300-Level Sociology student,. Abolarin Akin Jephthah, has written to inform the authorities of University of Ilorin to withdraw his studentship saying he engaged in examination malpractices to pass his West African Senior School Certificate Examination.
Abolarin, said his decision to withdraw is because he had become a ‘born again’ and continuing with his university education with undeserved certificate is not of the lord.
He wrote the letter to the institution Deputy V ice-Chancellor, Academics, Prof. Sidiqat Ijaiya on August 12.
The management has confirmed receipt of Abolarin letter and accepted his voluntary withdrawal from the institution.
Reacting to the letter on Sunday, the university Deputy Director, Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, confirmed the withdrawal of the student.
Akogun, who noted that the Senate of the university had accepted the withdrawal letter, added that the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdulganiyu Ambali, commended Abolarin for his repentance and sincerity.
The VC, Akogun added, wished Abolarin well in his future endeavour.
Part of Abolarin letter, reads: “Sir, Just as a house that was built on a faulty foundation will surely collapse, it is also certain that a career that was built on faultyfoundation will definitely collapse. All through secondary school days, I am just a church goer without genuine salvation and fear of God, as a result of this, I got my WASSCE through examination malpractice.
“By the grace of God, now, I have encountered the limelight of the gospel of Jesus Christ which called for repentance and restitution.
“Therefore, I have decided to withdraw from the institution and start all over again
