The media aide to the immediate past Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, Comrade Femi Awogboro, has cautioned those linking Adelabu’s Personal Assistant, Ajiboye Sangogade, to the recent kidnapping of the former minister’s sister and twin sons in Ibadan to stop spreading what he described as a false narrative.

In a statement, Awogboro said Sangogade had no connection whatsoever with the kidnapping incident and warned individuals circulating the allegation to desist or be prepared to face legal consequences.

He described the claims against Adelabu’s aide as false, malicious, and unwarranted, adding that those behind the allegation were merely attempting to damage Sangogade’s image and reputation.

According to Awogboro, a recent statement and interview by the Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, Ayanlade Olayinka, on the kidnapping case cleared Sangogade of any wrongdoing, noting that his name was never mentioned as a member of the kidnapping syndicate.

He challenged those making the allegation to identify where the police spokesperson mentioned Ajiboye Sangogade in any of his briefings on the matter.

Awogboro stressed that the police only referenced an individual identified as Segun in relation to the case and did not in any way connect Sangogade to the incident.

He further argued that the allegation was politically motivated, saying some individuals were seeking to gain political advantage from the situation and emphasizing that not everything should be viewed through a political lens.

The aide said their “lies and cook-up stories” had been exposed by the police account of the incident. He recalled that the same group previously accused Adelabu of handing the APC ticket for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency bye-election to his aide, Ajiboye, despite the fact that he is not from the constituency. He noted that Hon. Wale Olatunji Murphy eventually emerged as the party’s candidate for the election.

“This is not their first time of spreading rumours, so we want to urge the public and party members not to fall for their tricks,” he said.

Awogboro also described Sangogade as a man of integrity with an impeccable record and character, insisting that he could neither be involved in nor associated with such an act.
