The Lagos State Government has announced a temporary closure of Iddo Bridge to allow for the installation of heavy steel bridge beams as part of ongoing rehabilitation and reconstruction works.

The closure, in an announcement signed by the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, will be carried out in two phases.

The first phase will hold on Wednesday, 17th June, 2026, from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., while the second phase is scheduled for Sunday, 21st June, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

During these periods, the entire section of Iddo Bridge in Ijora, Apapa Local Government Area, will be closed to vehicular movement to ensure the safe installation of steel beams.

To ease traffic congestion, the government advised motorists to use alternative routes.

Motorists traveling from Oyingbo/Yaba to Ijora Olopa, Apapa, and Costain are advised to use Funsho Williams Avenue to continue their journeys.

Those travelling from Marina to Ijora Olopa, Apapa, and Costain are to descend the ramp to access Iddo-Onigbe, connect to Oyingbo, and proceed through Murtala Muhammed Way.

Motorists moving from Ijora Olopa/Apapa towards Carter Bridge/Marina are to use Eko Bridge by connecting to Apapa Road, then proceed via Murtala Muhammed Way through Iddo-Onigbe and Carter Bridge.

The government urged motorists to exercise patience and cooperate with traffic management officials during the exercise, noting that the closure is necessary to facilitate the ongoing reconstruction works by the Federal Ministry of Works through the Office of the Federal Controller of Works, Lagos.
