LSSTF TO REBUILD REMAINING POLICE STATIONS DESTROYED DURING #ENDSARS PROTESTS

The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has announced the finalisation of plans to reconstruct the remaining police stations destroyed during the 2020 #EndSARS protests.
The development was disclosed by the Executive Secretary of the Fund, Mr. Ayodeji Ogunsan, during an interaction with reporters at the LSSTF office in Alausa over the weekend and later shared on Monday by the Special Adviser on Social Media to President Bola Tinubu, Mr. Olusegun Dada.
Ogunsan revealed that a strategic partnership has been secured to drive the rebuilding exercise, noting that all police stations yet to be reconstructed after the 2020 destruction have been inspected and cleared for work to commence.
“The Fund has got a partner in the rebuilding. The police stations yet to be rebuilt after the destruction have been inspected and work would soon kick off on them,” he said.
The LSSTF boss, who assumed office in October, pledged to strengthen accountability, expand the Fund’s support base and ensure that all contributions translate into tangible improvements in security across the state.
He highlighted the Fund’s long-standing investments in key security assets, including patrol vehicles, communication equipment, bulletproof vests, marine assets and training for security personnel, all aimed at enhancing public safety.
Ogunsan expressed gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the confidence reposed in him, describing his appointment as a call to dedicated public service. He also stressed the need to embrace innovation, deepen collaboration and ensure swift, modern and people-centred responses to emerging security challenges.
The #EndSARS protests, which began as peaceful demonstrations against police brutality, later degenerated into violence across parts of Lagos, leading to the destruction of police stations, courts and other public infrastructure.
The planned reconstruction is expected to address critical security gaps created in the aftermath of the 2020 unrest and strengthen policing across the state.
