The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has issued a public warning over the circulation of fraudulent documents being used to deceive unsuspecting individuals under the pretext of government contracts.
According to the Service, scammers are distributing a document titled “Payment/Mobilisation Request Form” and demanding payments from victims, falsely claiming it is linked to contract awards.
In a statement released on Saturday and signed by Chief Superintendent of Corrections and Service Public Relations Officer, J.N. Osuji, the NCoS clarified that the document did not originate from the agency.
The Service reiterated that it adheres strictly to Federal Government regulations and established procedures in all procurement and contract-related activities.
The statement read that the Service “unequivocally” disowns the document, stressing that it operates strictly in line with Federal Government regulations and established due process in all procurement and contract matters.
It added that the NCoS does not request, demand or accept upfront payments, mobilisation fees or any form of financial inducement from individuals or contractors.

The Service also warned that fraudsters have been impersonating senior officials on social media, issuing fake contract offers and directing unsuspecting victims to make payments into private bank accounts.
The Service described the activities as deliberate attempts to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
In a public advisory, the NCoS urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and verify all information before taking any action. It advised the public to ignore unsolicited contract offers from unofficial or unverified sources and to avoid making any payments for purported government contracts or approvals.
The NCoS also called on citizens to report suspected fraudulent activities to relevant law enforcement agencies, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigeria Police Force.
The statement further noted: “Anyone who encounters such fraudulent schemes or has been affected is urged to report immediately to the relevant law enforcement agencies.”
It added that the Service is working with relevant authorities to investigate the scams and ensure those responsible are apprehended and brought to justice.
The notice reaffirmed the NCoS’s commitment to public safety and transparency, while emphasising the need for vigilance in protecting citizens from fraud.
