The Katsina State Police Command has uncovered and dismantled a seven-member armed robbery gang allegedly linked to an attack on a residence in Katsina metropolis, during which motorcycles, mobile phones and other valuables were stolen.

According to the command, the suspects were arrested after an intelligence-driven investigation into the robbery incident, which occurred around 2 a.m. on June 19, 2026, in the Unwala Quarters area of Katsina.

In a statement released to journalists on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Aliyu, said the victim, identified only as Surajo, reported that the armed assailants, armed with cutlasses and clubs, invaded his family home and made away with two UD motorcycles, seven mobile phones and two power banks.

Aliyu said police operatives swiftly launched an investigation, leading to the arrest of seven suspects identified as Sulaiman Sabo, alias Labule; Muhammad Aminu, 20; Muhammad Yahaya; Muhammad Daddy, 20; Aliyu Kabir; Musa Kabir, 20; and Ahmad Usman, 23.

Upon receipt of the report, operatives were immediately drafted to investigate the incident. Through an intelligence-led operation, the team successfully apprehended all seven primary suspects involved in the robbery,” the police spokesman said.

Aliyu disclosed that a search of the suspects’ hideouts led to the recovery of five stolen mobile phones, two stolen power banks, two cutlasses, a pinch bar used for housebreaking, a flashlight and a bunch of master keys believed to have been used during criminal operations.

The suspects voluntarily confessed to the commission of the offence, while investigations also revealed the identities of four other accomplices currently at large who allegedly assisted in disposing of the stolen property,” he said

The police identified the fleeing suspects as Dahiru Nuhu Tsoho, Ibrahim, alias Iro, Shafi’u Lawal and Aminu C., adding that efforts were ongoing to apprehend them and recover the remaining stolen items.

The Commissioner of Police in Katsina State, Ali Umar Fage, commended the operatives for what he described as their swift response and professionalism.

He called on residents to stay alert and continue sharing prompt and useful intelligence with security agencies.

“We are determined to eliminate all forms of crime and criminal activities across Katsina State. We therefore encourage members of the public to support police operations by providing credible information that can assist our efforts,” the commissioner stated.
