SOLDIERS FOIL TERRORISTS ATTACK IN BENUE YAM MARKET, TWO SUSPECTS KILLED

Troops from Operation Whirl Stroke worked together with members of the Benue State Civil Protection Guard to stop a terrorist attack.They caught two people who were suspected of being terrorists, and they found some weapons and bullets during the operation in Benue State.

The military shared this information in a statement released on Sunday by Lt.
Ahmad Zubairu, who is the Acting Media Information Officer for the Headquarters Joint Task Force Operation WHIRL STROKE.

The statement said the operation happened after the troops got a call for help while they were doing patrols near Tor Donga Yam Market in the state.

“On arrival, the troops made contact with the terrorists and engaged them decisively. During the encounter, two terrorists, identified as Dantaraba and Golozo, were neutralised,” the statement partly read.

It added that troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, one damaged pistol, one pistol magazine, six rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, nine rounds of 9mm pistol ammunition, one ATM card, one Moniepoint ATM card, and other sundry items.

The military said that the successful operation helped keep traders and people living in the area safe, so the market at Tor Donga Yam could keep running without any problems or worries about being attacked.

The statement also mentioned that the Force Commander, Maj.
Gen.Moses Gara, who leads Joint Task Force Operation WHIRL STROKE, praised the soldiers for their professional work, strong determination, and quick action.He said their efforts stopped a situation that could have caused a lot of harm to civilians and disrupted the economy.

Gara also praised the Benue State Civil Protection Guard for its cooperation with the military in tackling criminality across the state.

He further appreciated members of the public for providing credible and timely information, urging residents to sustain their support for security agencies.

According to him, security remains a collective responsibility that requires the cooperation of all stakeholders.
