Socialite and businessman Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has alleged that President Bola Tinubu is still cautious toward him due to his previous support for Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential election.

Cubana Chief Priest, who currently serves as the Imo State Coordinator of the Pro-Tinubu City Boys Movement, made the claim during a livestream interview with popular streamer Peller.

In a video circulating on Wednesday, the socialite said he believes there is still lingering distrust from the presidency linked to his ethnic background and his earlier political alignment.

“President Bola Tinubu no really trust me as an Igbo man that I am. He look me with one eye because he believes that this one that worked for Peter Obi before at the last election,” he said.

He explained that his switch in political allegiance was motivated by a desire to align with a winning side after previous losses.

When asked why he left Peter Obi, he said: “Because I don’t want to lose again because they say first fool no be fool na the second fool be proper fool.”

He also dismissed the chances of Peter Obi in the 2027 presidential election, describing him as “not serious” and insisting that “the serious people will win.”

The remarks, which have since gone viral on social media, sparked mixed reactions, with some users criticising him for political inconsistency while others described his stance as a reflection of Nigeria’s competitive political reality.

Cubana Chief Priest was previously an outspoken supporter of Obi and the Labour Party during the 2023 elections but has since defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress and President Tinubu’s camp.

He recently obtained an APC primary nomination form for a House of Representatives seat but withdrew from the race on the day of the election.
