TWO PAAU STUDENTS ARRESTED OVER KILLING OF BIOCHEMISTRY UNDERGRADUATE

Two students of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Ayingba, in Kogi State have been arrested in connection with the killing of a 300-level Biochemistry student, David Ocholi Solomon, on campus.
The university disclosed in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Uredo Omale, that the suspects were apprehended within two hours of the incident and subsequently handed over to security agencies for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The development was conveyed to the deceased’s family by the Vice-Chancellor, Salisu Usman Ogbo, during a condolence visit to Lokoja on Saturday.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, the university’s internal security team swiftly tracked and arrested the suspects before transferring them to law enforcement authorities.

“The suspects were arrested by the internal security of the university and handed over to the appropriate law enforcement agency for further investigation and prosecution,” he said.
Prof. Ogbo noted that he received news of the incident while attending the 35th Annual National Conference and Convention of the Nigerian Political Science Association at the University of Ibadan, describing the killing as a tragic event that has thrown the university community into mourning.
He assured the family that the institution is working closely with security agencies to ensure a thorough investigation and the identification of everyone connected to the crime.
The Vice-Chancellor reiterated the university’s zero-tolerance stance on cultism, violence and other criminal activities, adding that security has been strengthened within and around the campus, with additional measures expected to be introduced to prevent similar incidents.
He also commended Usman Ododo, traditional rulers and security agencies for their support in maintaining peace and security within the university community.
Responding on behalf of the family, the deceased’s father, Mr Solomon Idachaba, thanked the university management for the condolence visit and praised the swift arrest of the suspects, while urging authorities to ensure that justice is served.
