The Managing Director of the Kaduna State Roads Agency (KADRA), Dr Abdullahi Ahmed, has described Governor Uba Sani as a strong embodiment of the democratic ideals commemorated on June 12, saying his leadership reflects justice, accountability, inclusion, and service to the people.
In a statement issued on Friday to mark the 2026 Democracy Day, Ahmed said the governor’s background as a pro-democracy activist and his current governance style demonstrate a consistent commitment to the principles that defined Nigeria’s democratic struggle.
He noted that June 12 remains a landmark in Nigeria’s political history, symbolising the sacrifices of citizens who fought for constitutional rule, civil liberties, and democratic governance.
According to him, Governor Sani’s transition from activism to public office underscores the enduring relevance of those ideals.
“Governor Uba Sani’s leadership reflects the true spirit of June 12. He stood with millions of Nigerians in the struggle for democracy and continues to uphold those values through inclusive governance, transparency and policies that prioritise the welfare of citizens,” he said.
Ahmed commended the administration’s infrastructure drive, particularly in road construction, rural connectivity, and community-based projects, noting that these initiatives are improving livelihoods and expanding economic opportunities across Kaduna State.
He added that the government’s focus on equitable development aligns with the aspirations of those who fought for democratic governance in Nigeria.
“Democracy is best measured by its impact on the lives of the people. Governor Uba Sani has continued to demonstrate strong commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy through policies that promote growth, inclusion and shared prosperity,” he stated.
The KADRA boss congratulated residents of Kaduna State on the Democracy Day celebration and urged Nigerians to continue strengthening democratic institutions and supporting national development efforts.
He also reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to supporting the state government’s vision through sustainable road infrastructure and improved service delivery.
Democracy Day, observed annually on June 12, commemorates the annulled 1993 presidential election widely believed to have been won by the late Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola. The date was officially adopted in 2018 to replace May 29 as Nigeria’s Democracy Day and serves as a reminder of the country’s long struggle for democratic governance and civil rights.
