US AIRSTRIKES PUSH BANDITS FROM SOKOTO TOWARD BENUE – FORMER AGF AONDOAKAA

Former Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Michael Aondoakaa, SAN, has raised concerns that bandits are moving en masse from Sokoto to Benue following US airstrikes on Christmas Day.
Aondoakaa made the remarks on Thursday during an interview on Arise Television.
“Following the Sokoto airstrikes, bandits have fled to the Benue region, overrunning villages. In Ukum LGA, 10 out of 13 wards have been taken over by these groups.
“The main market in Nkum, the Zaki-Biam market—one of the country’s major yam-producing hubs—is now less than three kilometers from where the bandits have settled, which is extremely alarming.
“There must be coordinated efforts between the Nigerian and US governments to flush them out wherever they gather. This applies to attacks elsewhere, such as in Oyo. Wherever bandits concentrate, the Nigerian Air Force should respond. If local capacity is insufficient, collaboration with international partners, as with the US, is essential to prevent further chaos,” he said.
