Agency Report

The United States Department of Homeland Security has announced plans to deport at least 124 Nigerians listed among what it described as the “worst of the worst” criminal aliens as part of an intensified immigration enforcement campaign.

The disclosure was contained in a statement published on the department’s website, where the agency said the deportations form part of ongoing efforts by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement to remove convicted criminal immigrants from the country.

Although the department published the names and photographs of the affected Nigerians alongside those of other foreign nationals, it did not disclose the specific offences committed by each individual or indicate when the deportations would commence.

According to the DHS, the operation aligns with President Donald Trump’s renewed immigration enforcement agenda.

“The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is highlighting the worst of the worst criminal aliens arrested by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

“Under DHS leadership, the hardworking men and women of DHS and ICE are fulfilling President Trump’s promise and carrying out mass deportations, starting with the worst of the worst,” the statement read.

Among the Nigerians listed are Sunday Adediora, Sunday Kunkushi, Mkpouto Etukudoh, Marcus Unigwe, Olaniyi Ojikutu, Boluwaji Akingunsoye, Ejike Asiegbunam, Emmanuel Mayegun Adeola, Bamidele Bolatiwa, Ifeanyi Nwaozomudoh, Aderemi Akefe, Solomon Wilfred, Chibundu Anuebunwa, Joshua Ineh, Usman Momoh, Oluwole Odunowo, Bolarinwa Salau, Oriyomi Aloba, Oludayo Adeagbo, Olaniyi Akintuyi, Talatu Dada, Olatunde Oladinni, Jelili Qudus, Abayomi Daramola and several others.

The list also includes Kenneth Unanka, Jeremiah Ehis, Oluwafemi Orimolade, Ayibatonye Bienzigha, Uche Diuno, Akinwale Adaramaja, Boluwatife Afolabi, Chinonso Ochie, Olayinka A. Jones, Theophilus Anwana, Aishatu Umaru, Henry Idiagbonya, Okechukwu Okoronkwo, Sakiru Ambali, Kamaludeen Giwa, Cyril Odogwu, Ifeanyi Echigeme, Kingsley Ibhadore, Suraj Tairu, Peter Equere, Dasola Abdulraheem, Adewale Aladekoba and Akeem Adeleke, among others.

This marks the second time in 2026 that a significant number of Nigerians have been slated for deportation by the US authorities.

In February, the DHS announced plans to deport at least 79 Nigerians also classified as “worst of the worst” criminal aliens, with those affected reportedly convicted of offences including fraud, drug trafficking, assault, robbery, manslaughter and other related crimes.

The latest move comes amid increased scrutiny of Nigeria by the Trump administration.

In June, the United States imposed partial visa restrictions on Nigerian citizens, citing concerns over identity management, information sharing, visa overstay rates and security screening.

The planned deportations are part of a broader nationwide immigration enforcement campaign launched following President Trump’s return to office on January 20, 2025, with the administration prioritising the removal of foreign nationals convicted of serious criminal offences.
