The presidential campaign convoy of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has reportedly come under attack in Kebbi State.
The incident occurred on Thursday as the convoy of the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, moved through the state for campaign activities.
Reports from the campaign team indicated that suspected political thugs blocked the convoy, hurled stones at vehicles and attacked members of the media crew covering the campaign.
The team disclosed that several pieces of equipment belonging to the camera and video crew were destroyed during the incident.
According to the campaign team, cameras, video equipment, tripods and other essential working tools were smashed, preventing the crew from continuing its live coverage of the campaign.
The ADC team described the attackers as sponsored thugs, alleging that the incident was deliberately orchestrated to intimidate supporters and prevent the media from reporting the campaign activities.
A member of the campaign team said the attackers were not interested in stealing valuables but specifically targeted the media crew and their equipment to prevent Nigerians from seeing what was happening in Kebbi State.
