WORLD CUP 2026: OBUH CONDEMNS TUNISIA’S DECISION TO SACK LAMOUCHI

Former Flying Eagles coach John Obuh has criticised the Tunisian Football Federation for relieving Sabri Lamouchi of his duties as head coach of the Carthage Eagles.
Lamouchi was dismissed on Monday following Tunisia’s heavy 5-1 defeat to Sweden in their opening match of the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026.
The 57-year-old oversaw just four games in charge, managing one draw and three losses before his departure.
He has since been replaced by former Zambia and Côte d’Ivoire coach Hervé Renard.
Obuh argued that changing a coach during a tournament is a poor decision.
“I’m not an advocate of making changes in the middle of a tournament, it does not make any sense,” the 66-year-old said in an interview with Footy Africa.
“But such a thing is already pre-planned. If you see any country behave like their federation did, they had a doubt earlier on before they gave him the mantle to lead the team.”
Tunisia will take on Japan in their next World Cup fixture on Sunday.
