In less than seven months till the general elections of 2023, the North West zone of the All Progressives Congress has started political consultation for the presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, in Kebbi State.

The team revealed that Kebbi will be the first port of call  to re-strategize and enhance gray areas in the seven states in the geopolitical zone. Malam Salihu Lukman, the chairman of the APC North West, led the delegation.

The news comes five days after a team of northern politicians, including the governors of Kaduna State and Kano, Nasir el-Rufai and Abdullahi Ganduje, were asked to meet with Tinubu to discuss some “important issues” about his potential running mate.

The Malam Salihu Lukman-led team met with party leaders in Birnin Kebbi, the capital of Kebbi State, according to a statement released on Monday by APC Zonal Publicity Secretary (North West), Musa Mailafiya Mada.

“They listed areas of the party’s strength that demonstrated Kebbi is one of the APC’s strongholds not just in the Zone but also in the entire country generally,” the statement’s opening line said. A few problems that need to be fixed have also been noted, and the participants have also supplied some suggestive fixes.

Governor of Kebbi State, Senator Atiku Bagudu, who was represented by his Deputy, Col. Sama’ila Wambe Dabai (retd.), appreciated the zonal officials for taking out time to conduct the fact-finding campaign that he believed will give them an insight on how to strategise ahead of the 2023 General Elections.

Bagudu further assured the delegation that recommendations made during their interactive session will be given due consideration.
