LASU MOURNS FORMER VICE CHANCELLOR, ANNOUNCES BURIAL PLANS

Prof. Lateef Akanni Hussein, former Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University, is dead.

Prof. Hussein died after a brief illness in the evening of Sunday, 31st July, 2022 at the age of 75 years.

Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, the institution’s Vice Chancellor, confirmed the news in a statement on Monday.

‘Former LASU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Lateef Akanni Hussein, passes away,’ read the announcement.

She further stated that the late Vice-Chancellor will be buried today in accordance with Islamic customs.

“Prof. Hussein, a professor of Physics, served as the 6th Substantive Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University from 2005 and 2011.”

“The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, confirmed the news on Monday and expressed her great sadness at the death of her former boss, under whose leadership she served as the University’s Deputy Vice Chancellor.”

“The esteemed scholar will be buried today, Monday, August 1st, 2022, according to Islamic rituals at Atan Cemetery, shortly after a Janazah prayer at LASUTH Central Mosque, Ikeja, Lagos,” the statement said.
